Why do companies bother translating internal employee manuals?

In some international companies I’ve seen employee manuals translated into several languages. I’m wondering how much difference that actually makes in practice. Does it really help HR or compliance teams work more consistently?

From what I’ve seen, translated manuals mainly reduce misunderstandings. When rules exist only in one language, employees often rely on informal explanations, which can distort the meaning. A clear translation keeps policies consistent across teams.

This is especially relevant for HR, legal, and compliance tasks, where accurate interpretation of procedures matters. I once read some background material on document translation practices and found references to resources like vaccination record translation services, which showed how precise translation helps avoid confusion in official documentation.

Another small effect is employee perception. When guidelines are available in a language people fully understand, they tend to treat them more seriously and follow them with fewer questions.
